Privileged Access and Session Management (PAM) formerly PRIVIA PAM

PRIVIA

Just-in-time, recorded privilege instead of standing admin rights.

PRIVIA vaults privileged accounts, routes elevation requests through approval flows, time-bounds access and records sessions. The question “who did what, when, on which server?” is answered before the audit starts.

Product story

Privileged access is the common intersection of ransomware and insider-threat scenarios. In most organizations administrator accounts stay permanently open, sessions are not recorded and third-party support access is granted without control. PRIVIA closes those three gaps: time-bound elevation instead of standing rights, recorded and replayable sessions, and approval flows instead of uncontrolled access.

Capabilities

Privileged vault

Admin, root, service and shared accounts live in an encrypted vault; the password is never shown to the user.

Just-in-time access

Access is granted by request, approval and time limit; rights are revoked automatically when the window closes.

Session recording

SSH, RDP and database sessions are recorded, providing full replay as audit evidence.

Approval workflows

Role- and risk-based multi-step approval; break-glass access opens with its own trail and notification.

Password rotation

Vaulted passwords rotate on policy and renew automatically after use.

Identity alignment

Privileged accounts map to the Argus Identity NHI inventory, with orphan accounts reported.

Agent-based elevation

Local elevation requests are raised through the Argus agent; unelevated requests do not execute.

Audit & compliance

All access, approval and session data is written to an immutable record, exportable to SIEM.

What it solves and what it returns

Problems today

  • Administrator accounts left permanently open (standing privilege)
  • Privileged sessions not recorded, leaving no audit evidence
  • Break-glass access spiralling out of control
  • Third-party support access without time or scope limits
  • Shared admin passwords circulating between teams
  • “Who did what, when, on which server?” left unanswered

Outcome with the product

  • Privilege duration shrinks and breach surface narrows
  • Full recording and evidence for every privileged session
  • Reports ready for audit and regulatory preparation
  • Third-party access controlled and time-bound
  • Shared-password practice disappears

Architecture and technology

Architectural approach

PRIVIA is built on four core components: the privileged account vault, the approval engine, the session proxy/recording layer and the policy engine. The vault stores passwords encrypted and subjects them to rotation. The approval engine runs on role, risk and time-window rules. The session proxy intercepts SSH, RDP and database sessions, records them and archives them for replay. The policy engine aligns with the NHI inventory in Argus Identity; approval notifications go out via SeedCom and audit records export to SIEM.

Frequently asked questions

Does it work with our existing AD?

Yes. PRIVIA consumes AD / Entra groups; no separate directory deployment is required for user management.

How long are session recordings retained?

Retention is policy-driven; in the default enterprise configuration recordings are archived compressed.

Are application admin panels covered?

Web-based admin panels get vault + approval + SSO bridging; the in-app authorization model stays unchanged.

Is there a performance impact?

The session proxy runs transparently on the network; typical RDP/SSH sessions show no perceptible latency.
